About me
Hi! I'm Tim.
Ever since I learned I could make a living by reading other people's writing and suggesting improvements, I've considered myself an editor. But in contrast to the stereotype of a crusty, ink-stained curmudgeon, I pride myself on looking for the opportunities in others' writing, not just the errors and easy fixes.
I love helping people think through their ideas and express them with unexpected clarity and eloquence. It helps that I'm as much a visual thinker as a wordsmith, with a pretty good sense of pitch across media types. What's even more helpful is my comfort level with data and my formal training in business management and classical studies.
After all, a good story is one thing, but a story that's grounded in both relevant data and relatable wisdom can be quite another. When such a story stirs the human heart to sing, to rage, to persevere, even to contemplate deeply … well, then you've got the literal stuff of legend.
I bring a unique perspective and value to all my professional engagements. My value is rooted in both my multi-faceted experience and my eagerness to find the opportunities for synergistic collaboration among teams and individuals. The messaging methodology I've developed speaks to this value: By drawing from both the product and marketing sides of an organization–with the audience always first in mind–I create messaging that is always clear, sufficient for the task and audience at hand, and flexible enough to serve as a springboard for flights of copywriting fancy. Bringing the head and the heart together–that's the core of my approach to building messaging.

If you're wondering what I do for fun, I read *a lot* and have begun to write much more. I also picked up Guitar Hero this year and have progressed to beating songs on Expert. It's nice to know it's possible to pick up new tricks as the years roll along.
