VMware Marketing AI Council
With the launch of ChatGPT-3 in late 2022, VMware's chief marketing officer thought the time was right for the marketing organization to get ahead of the adoption curve and appointed a small (and ultimately award-winning) team to identify and pilot marketing use cases. As a founding member, I passed our insights to partners in the form of a report and infographic that showed how they could use generative AI to make their marketing lives easier.
VMware Cloud-Smart Ecosystem
Portfolio messaging is challenging: How do you weave a coherent narrative from a variety of technology offerings and make them relevant for a spectrum of partners going to market in different ways–especially when you're not selling a product but an idea? My solution was to go outside-in, starting with the audience's goals and fears and work backward. Praised by industry analysts from IDC and Canalys as innovative and unlike anything else in partner messaging, this messaging framework has proven useful for every industry and segment I've tried it on.
The Art & Science
of B2B Messaging
In addition to being a just-in-time keynote saver, the messaging architecture I put together for VMware's partner leadership conference in 2022 was the subject of a short webinar I made for VMware's companywide marketing summit later that year. Here's the link to the video–I'm a low talker (and a fast one, at that), so you'll want the sound up and the captions on. 😉
Dell Social Impact
In what has been among the most satisfying roles in my career, I led marketing for Dell's Transforming Lives ESG initiatives until an unfortunate WFR in late 2020 (2 weeks before my wedding–what a bummer!). Dell's top initiatives in support of its "moonshot" goal (to deliver enduring benefits to 1 billion people worldwide by 2030) were Solar Learning Labs (since rebranded Solar Community Hubs) and Digital LifeCare. Other Dell ESG initiatives I marketed included its innovative Student TechCrew and Pro Bono programs.
