Where I've worked, what I've done
After a few years at the school of hard knocks, I began my professional career as a copy editor at a community college newspaper. Along the way in my career journey from news journalism to tech marketing to corporate messaging, I've developed a pretty solid toolbox for a wide variety of content and communications disciplines. I led global messaging and brand positioning for VMware’s Cloud-Smart Ecosystem of 28K partners, coordinating across partner organizations and business units to drive ecosystem messaging to, with and through partners. As a founding member of the trailblazing and award-winning VMware Marketing AI Council, I co-wrote a whitepaper for partners on how to use generative AI in marketing. I gave a TED-style talk on my proprietary portfolio messaging strategy for a companywide marketing summit in 2022.

I led global marketing for a portfolio of ESG and employee engagement initiatives in pursuit of Dell's "moonshot" goal of delivering enduring benefits to 1 billion people worldwide by 2030.

I led editorial production and content strategy for a publisher of retail investment journalism. I managed the flagship website with 13M annual visitors and a newsletter portfolio with 85K subscribers. I tripled content output in my first quarter and led content syndication with business media outlets such as Yahoo Finance, Forbes, Barron’s, and others. I edited a roster of 12-15 freelance investment analysts and wrote a style guide.

I first worked for my hometown paper in summer 2004 as a Dow Jones News Fund intern. Before taking a buyout in 2012, I was leading nightside print production as a slot editor.
